The Awards of the 5th Edition of FEST(in) on the Boulevard
International Theater Festival
The 5th edition of FEST(in) on the Boulevard International Theater Festival is over. We enjoyed days and nights filled with the flavor of performances, reflection and fun. The record of the festival is rich: 12 days and 39 performances from 8 countries and 3 continents, 14 Q&A sessions, 2 street events, 5 readings, 4 colloquia, 4 theater book launches, 2 photo exhibitions, 7 different locations: Nottara Theater, Ţăndărică Theater, Odeon Theater, the National Theater in Bucharest, ACT Theater, Balassi Hungarian Institute, Cărtureşti-Verona Bookstore.
The Festival Jury, which was composed of Doina Modola, Emil Boroghină, Doru Mareș, Pompilius Onofrei and Claudiu Groza, awarded the prizes in the Puberty and Adolescence Crises Section, which also provided the main theme of this festival edition:
Best Actress in a Leading Role: Anda Saltelechi for the part Francesca, in the independent production Half Song, by Crista Bilciu
Best Actor in a Leading Role: Alex Călin for the part Don, in Butterflies Are Free by Leonard Gershe, directed by Erwin Șimșensohn, a production of Excelsior Theater, Bucharest
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Mihaela Teleoacă for the part Debra Watts in Kimberly by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Andreea Vulpe, a production of Comedy Theater, Bucharest
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Constantin Cojocaru for the part Valerio in Leonce and Lena by Georg Büchner, directed by Vlad Cristache, a production of Maria Filotti Theater, Brăila
Best Director: Andrei Măjeri for Outbursting by Elise Wilk, a production of Marin Sorescu National Theater, Craiova
Best Production: Sleepwalking by Iaroslava Pulinovici, directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanu, a production of Nottara Theater, Bucharest
The Jury has also awarded two Special Prizes:
The Jury Prize went to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, after Shakespeare, directed by Cristian Pepino, a production of Ţăndărică Theater, Bucharest.
Argument of the Jury: For the dynamic and accessible character of this adaptation of a Shakespearian play for the youth animation theater
The Special Jury Prize went to Heartbeat by Kim Doo-Hwan, directed by Bae Eun-Wook, a production of Donghwa Tree Company in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Argument of the Jury: For the perfect use of musical instruments, and the poetry of this theater performance
It is Nottara Theater’s purpose to keep its audience as close as possible, therefore at this year’s edition our most devoted spectators made up the Audience Jury: Luiza Ciorpan, Alina Maer, Alexandru Constantin, Marcel Frunte-Lată and Florin Frunză. They evaluated the productions in the Comedy Boulevard Section and awarded the following prizes:
Best Actress in a Leading Role: Florina Cercel for the part Aneta Duduleanu in The Chitchatters by Alexandru Kirițescu, directed by Mc Ranin, a production of Tony Bulandra Theater, Târgovişte.
Best Actor in a Leading Role: Marius Bodochi, for the part Grigori Stepanovici Smirnov in The Bear by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, directed by Felix Alexa, a production of the State Theater Constanţa
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Catrinel Dumitrescu for the part Sheila in Relatively Speaking by Alan Ayckbourn, directed by Felix Alexa, a production of Nottara Theater, Bucharest
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Sebastian Marina for the part Florin in Pitch- Black by Székely Csaba, directed by Catinca Drăgănescu, a production of Andrei Mureşanu Theater, Sfântu Gheorghe
Best Production in the Comedy Boulevard Section: Robinson Crusoe’s Diary after The Island by Gellu Naum, directed by Mihai Măniuţiu, a production of Odeon Theater, Bucharest
The Marketing, Sales, and PR Department, and the Literary Office teams have awarded three prizes for the most popular actress in Nottara Theater to Ioana Calotă, Crenguţa Hariton and Ada Navrot. Demetria Art Atelier (www.demetria.ro), one of the festival sponsors, will offer them a voucher for a dress in their collection.
Every member in the festival team, which was coordinated by Diana Sârbu, is already thinking of the next edition.So does the director of Nottara Theater and FEST(in) on the Boulevard, Marinela Ţepuş: „We are closing the fifth edition of FEST(in) on the Boulevard International Theater Festival, and we are already thinking of the next one, the main theme of which will be Communication Crisis. The sixth edition will take place between 12 - 21 October 2018.
We want to thank all our friends and supporters. I want to thank the festival and Nottara Theater teams, for their effort to professionally and heartily organize one of the most important autumn theater events.
